Saving lives is what we do!

Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club offers your community coastal safety and beach rescue services.

Saving lives is at the core of what we do, ensuring the delivery of essential life saving services throughout the summer season. Alongside rescue operations, we offer training and education programs in the community, teaching people life saving first aid, or giving our lifesavers the chance to hone their skills on the sand and in the water through the bronze medallion, SRC and many more courses of that nature.

Our Beach Patrols

YSLSC operates surf life saving patrols at Lagoon Beach, up and including Capricorn Groin to the north and the Fisherman’s Hollow beach to the south. Volunteer lifesavers and lifeguards are positioned at the beach during the Surf Life Saving season (October to April) to protect beach-goers and perform rescues when swimmers get into trouble. They encourage all swimmers to swim between the red and yellow patrol flags, as this is a safe area where they are on patrol.

Woodside Nippers

The ocean can be a scary and dangerous place for a young child or even a parent. The Sunday Program, Woodside Nippers, offers your child fun at the beach while learning the safety skills they need. This fun, the morning offers our kids and parents a great foundation to learn about the beach and to develop confidence in the water, all while making great friends, for life!

A few words from our members

Matt Ridley

My kids have been members of the Yanchep SLSC for a few years now. It has been incredible to see their confidence grow each season, gain a better knowledge of the beach environment and make new friends. With the club growing each season it still manages to retain that close community vibe, with a strongly supportive and friendly culture. Some sports have an oval, others a hard court, we have one of the most stunning beaches along the metro coastline.

Woodside Nippers Age Manager

The energy from the kids each week is incredible; they can’t wait to get onto the sand and get going. As an Age Manager, I can see the level of confidence grow over a season, getting in there and giving it a go. We have an all-inclusive policy, so no one is ever left out or left behind. Having the Water Safety team keep an eye on all Woodside Nippers through the activities gives us a sense of reassurance that everyone is being looked after.

Emilio Velasco
Water Safety & Youth Program

After starting as a Nipper, I’m now a part of the Yanchep SLSC Youth Program. It’s given me a chance to progress my skills further, hang out with friends and be a part of weekend patrols over the season. After completing my SRC, I’m excited to be a part of the Water Safety team this season and look forward to helping the Woodside Nippers.

Lockhart Family

It really has become the weekend tradition in our house; the smell of coffee, sunscreen and BBQ on a Sunday morning. The kids can't wait to get in the water, especially in the warm summer mornings. The word community gets thrown around a lot, but it does exist at the surf club. Everyone at the club is committed to creating a fun but yet educational program for the kids.

Janine Prinsloo
Director of Administration

What started out as a simple sign up for our youngest at Nippers three years ago has ended up with two Bronze Medallions in the family, Two Provide First Aid Patrolling members and a President and Director of Administration 🙂 YSLSC has categorically changed our family dynamic into a strong, happy, healthy household who come together with the common goal of an all inclusive club that every member of the Yanchep community can benefit from. If you are thinking of joining, do not hesitate, it will be one of your best decisions by far! See you on the beach!

The Dall Family

We joined Yanchep SLSC at the start of the 2018 season with our 3 daughters. Right from day 1 everyone was so inclusive and welcoming.  Can not speak any higher of this club and its members.

I am very much looking forward to another enjoyable, action-packed season at YSLSC with an awesome group of people. So many amazing nippers having fun whilst learning and achieving important life skills at such a spectacular location. I have many amazing memories of being at this club and I can't wait to create lots more.
