Yanchep SLSC Surf Sport

Yanchep SLSC support and encourage Yanchep Nippers (U8-13), Youth (U14-19), opens & masters (30+) who wish to participate at Surf Sport
carnivals & competitions.

There are a wide variety of events to participate in, whether it be in the water or on the beach that take place at various times throughout the year at various locations
in the Perth Metro & some regional centres.

2023/24 SLSWA Event Calendar

Carnivals entry fees are low cost & vary, which then allow you to enter into as many events within the carnival program.

Entries can be made by submitting an email to Matt, yanchepsurfsport@gmail.com prior to closing date of event.

TEAM APP will be used to communicate, so please upload this via the App Store and search for Yanchep SLSC.

Proficiency swim Requirements

To be enabled to participate in competitions you will need to be a member of our club and there will be an evaluation swim required (for water events), pending on age group.

See table below;

Age Group	Swim Distance and Time
Under 8	Minimum 100m open water swim in 6 minutes
Under 9	Minimum 100m open water swim in 6 minutes
Under 10	Minimum 150m open water swim in less than 8 minutes.
Under 11	Minimum 200m open water swim in less than 8 minutes.
Under 12	Minimum 200m open water swim in less than 8 minutes.
Under 13	Minimum 200m open water swim in less than 7 minutes.
Under 14	Minimum 200m open water swim in less than 5 minutes or obtain SRC
Under 15	Minimum 200m open water in less than 5 minutes (SRC Requirement)
Under 16	Minimum 200m open water in less than 5 minutes (SRC Requirement)
Under 17+	Minimum 400m open water in less than 9 minutes (Bronze Medallion Requirement)

Training

As we like to remind people that the surf sport carnivals are a fun & friendly environment, we highly encourage participants to take advantage of our group training session which are open to all ages.

All training sessions are weather pending & are subject to change.

Water events training sessions will take place on Sunday mornings (7:30-8:30am), prior to Nippers.
